#Repost In our last email newsletter we mentioned the @turnerswarehouse ornament contest! @resinwerksstudio just made this one using one of our decorative loop kits.

Made another two-piece threaded ornament. This time I used the universal mandrel system from @stainlessbottlestoppers to hold the blank, and I turned the whole thing at once after I threaded both pieces. That seemed to be a much easier way to go. I’ll be putting a brass decorative loop on instead of the stainless one once I get some in.
This will be available in the @turnerswarehouse ornament challenge auction coming up at the end of the month. I’ll send out a reminder when it’s ready for bidding.

I used their brass inserts and the mandrel and that made the process so much fun!
Very pleased with the quality of those.
They dont pay me to write this, just wanna share my experience because the previous cheap ones didnt make me as happy as these.

Working truly remotely today for my real job! I made these for my new, awesome bosses. They were supposed to be two bottle openers, but as I turned the right one, I new it would look better as a stopper. I have a feeling I’ll be making another set. I don’t think these can be separated!
These are made of redwood burl. Since we’re working in the Sierra Foothills and Yosemite Valley that made sense.

We are gearing up for our upcoming class, Introduction to Ornamental Turning, May 13-15. Sign up at the link in the Bio.
We’ll use various bottle stoppers like this one to teach the various cutting frames and the typical motions and action of the rose engine and ornamental turning lathe. The stopper bottoms we’ll be featuring are from @stainlessbottlestoppers and are made of culinary stainless.
The class will start on Friday, May 13 and go through Sunday, May 15 at noon.

These pieces are made from African Blackwood and Argentinian Lignum. The effect is created by combining a puffy polygon rosette with a phased movement, and this will be only one of the options for choice in the class.

Stopped in to @anchor_hardwoods a few weeks back and found a few bargin scrap pieces. Ended up turning an 11" platter and a honey dipper, with hardware from @stainlessbottlestoppers. Both are turned from ambrosia maple scraps. Amazing what scraps can make.
